Talking the Election to Death

Tomorrow, 24 states hold their assorted primaries and caucuses, which could, though conceivably won't, produce nominees for president from both parties. There is, of course, the demand - whether perceived or real is unclear - on media outlets to provide constant coverage of the race, even when there isn't all that much to cover.

Over the weekend and continuing into today, countless journalists have phoned in state-of-the-race type pieces, each trying to find an angle in this latest race-to-the-finish moment; the fury of the campaigning, the prevalence of anti-Clinton rhetoric, the massive size and expense of the candidates' various ad buys, the unpredictable nature of the race.No event, not even a "transformational," "recording-breaking" and "history-making" election like this one could possibly generate enough actual news to meet the hyper-active, round-the-clock demands of cable news.
Here's the news: there's a huge vote tomorrow, and no one knows what's going to happen. The race is fickle and has demonstrated that no amount of polling or speculating or punditry can predict the outcome until we're done counting votes. What if the talking heads stopped talking and the blogosphere stopped blogging and everyone was aloud enough quiet to hear themselves think and then go cast a vote? What would happen then?

I don't heart Huckabee.

I think Pam and Dave are right. Do you want some idiot voting who
knows nothing and could care less for other people. Why not evaluate
people and let them take an examination before they vote so they know
where each of the candidates stand. This will give them further
insight into what they are like.

Tara if you are not smart then how do you know if the candidate that
is running is best to run this nation. Only smart people should be
making those decisions in voting.

Voting is not just for the smart. It is for families and the common
people who want to better their lives. One person one vote. I agree
that voting is power but everyone ought to share in that right not
just the smart people.

Pam I think that you are right. They should bring back intelligence
examination to ensure that they are cognizant of what they are voting
on. Voting is too much power. It is a priveledge given to those who
are smart.

The qualifications to run our country's government should be
accountant, or some professional field. The one field that suits well
is business so that they can make rational decisions on their own
without their advisors before discussing it with them.

I think everyone who votes should have to take a test. Some people
are not informed at all and they are decided the future for all of
us. Scary.

Posted by Ted on 2/4/2008 3:34:18 PM
It takes alot more than just economics to run this country's
government.

Posted by sam on 2/4/2008 3:31:20 PM
I think that every Presidential candidate should have a good idea of
economics otherwise they should not be allowed to get elected.
Politics is politics but if they do not know what they are doing then
they should not be there.

Hillary unlike Mitt Romney would have hired more employees and one's
that were not qualified in order to make friends. She has no business
experience like Mitt. And Obama is even worst. I do not know where
the democrats got that one from.
