Whitehouse.com Presents: Your Guide to Super Tuesday

Today, 24 states will hold their primary elections and caucuses and then, finally then, we will be in the home stretch of this thing ("this thing" being the nominating process). That is, unless, the election remains as tightly locked as it has been previously. In that case, the parties head into "brokered" conventions in August to determine the nominees. In that nightmare scenario, we have to put up with the intra-party battle royal for another six months. But we're not worried, America, because we know you're not going to let that happen.

For a party completely fractured and divided, the GOP looks ready to send John McCain straight to the general election, trouncing his opponent, the frantic and wild-eyed non-contender Mitt Romney in most major contests tomorrow including (but not limited to) California, New York and New Jersey and Connecticut. Romney will walk away with Massachusetts, Utah (where will literally get 99% of the vote) and has a decent shot and taking Georgia.
Things are not so clear cut on the other side of the aisle. An encouraging sign for 65% of Americans who will vote Democratic in the general election this year, though, is the uncanny ability of both leading contenders to resist the systematic destruction of their own candidacies, an usual feat for Democrats in an election year. Going into Super Tuesday, Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are locked in a dead heat in most important states, with almost every poll yielding nearly essentially worthless results. As of yesterday, Clinton held a narrow lead in coveted California after a sharp decline in the face of Obama's gains. The same holds true for Connecticut, Massachusetts, Missouri, and New Jersey. Clinton can expect to walk away with her home state of New York and Oklahoma. Safely in the Obama column are Illinois and Utah, which makes Hillary and Obama just about even.

But who has the edge you ask? A CNN poll released earlier today shows that Clinton has been overtaken by Obama nationally, and the Junior Senator from Illinois must be confident knowing that going into Super Tuesday, he is in his strongest position ever against the titan Clinton. Also not hurting Obama is the fact that Vanity Fair put his baby pictures up on their website today. Seriously, he's going to be like the most adorable president ever.

There is going to be a ground swell of support for Obama which will
propel him to the victory. He has thousands of ground troops to help
him get the win.

I do not want to pay for Health Insurance for all people. I only want
to pay for my Health insurance. I already have enough bills.

Universal health card will bankrupt this country. We can do without
it. Put it on the ballot box and out of the hands of Hillary.

Posted by Tara on 2/5/2008 2:55:46 PM
Today is Hillary's day. She will show up as the clear winner.
Everyone will know if she wins the primaries throughout the states
she will be president. She will have all the woman backing her up and
p***ing an agenda of universal health care and programs that will
benifit middle cl*** and poor americans.

John McCain will establish himself as the clear leader of the pack
and eventually distance himself from the others by a large margin.
Review his record in the senate and americans will be happy to vote
him in.

Posted by Nancy on 2/5/2008 2:44:11 PM
He left M***achussets with a budget deficit for the Health Care
reform and other problems. His own home town paper did not endorse
him.

Posted by Calvin on 2/5/2008 2:39:17 PM
Romney is tht best guy on the economy. He has run a state and
businesses. He knows best on how to compete against China and the
rest of the world.

Posted by Kit on 2/5/2008 2:38:15 PM
I am not suprised that the election is not over yet. I think that
today will determine who the leaders will be.

Posted by John on 2/5/2008 2:30:52 PM
Romney is a good man however John McCain is a better man to me over
him. None of the democrats stand on the issues the way I see it. I
hope the best man wins though.

Posted by Lindsey on 2/5/2008 2:30:02 PM
No one will emerge as the leader on the Democratic side as I beleive
this will go down to the Convention.

Posted by Frank on 2/5/2008 2:27:39 PM
I hope that John McCain wins I am in favor of him. He is a cl***y
guy. He is a veteran and a defender of this country. But most of all
his conservative attitude gives him credibility with all americans. A
fine man John McCain is.

Posted by Q on 2/5/2008 2:26:49 PM
Romney can not keep spending his own money or he will not have any
money left. His wife and kids will be on him soon to keep the family
nest egg intact.

Posted by William on 2/5/2008 2:25:24 PM
What does Obama think he is going to do to change things. He has been
in the Senate for three years and has not accomplished anything.

Posted by Davis on 2/5/2008 2:20:41 PM
Huckabee needs to leave the race as he is just handing the primaries
over to McCain.

Posted by Justin on 2/5/2008 2:19:23 PM
I beleive that Romeny will catch McCain in California and with his
two home states of M***achussetts and Utah will get almost as many
delegates as McCain.

Posted by William on 2/5/2008 2:04:24 PM
Hucakbee can win some states in the south. He is well known there and
is a Baptist Minister whcih will help him immensely in those states.

Posted by Jay on 2/5/2008 2:01:05 PM
Do people in this country know the issues. If they are unaware of
each of the candidates political positions then they should not be
allowed to vote. It is more than their looks it is our future we are
voting on.

Posted by Todd on 2/5/2008 1:58:50 PM
Let's get it over today folks. It is SuperTuesday lets roll with the
vote. Make it count everyone!!!

Posted by Dale on 2/5/2008 1:51:16 PM
Dave and Jim this time around we got screwed. Neither Democrat is
Democrat enough for me. I am for the middle of the road both
represent the back of the road. I threw in the towel and voting for
John McCain come November 8th.

Posted by David on 2/5/2008 1:42:59 PM
Jimmy , I knew that it is difficult to vote democratic this time
around. I am angry too, but swallow your pride and vote for the
republican John McCain. The democrats really picked two fools to
represent us and I will not put up with it either.
