Obama and Clinton Stay Home While Primary Votes Are Cast

While John McCain and Mitt Romney are fighting for survival out in California, both of the leading Democrats are spending their Super Tuesday on their home turf, Obama in Illinois and Clinton in New York. Much has been made of the closeness of this race, and last night both candidates were trying to downplay expectations of today's votes yielding an outright victory for either of them. These choices, perhaps, are indicative of the long fight still ahead for the Democratic nomination in a race that has become to close that less is actually at sake for the the Democrats today than the Republicans.

Both had to return home to cast their own ballots, but even so and have deployed high-profile surrogates to do the heavy-lifting for them today, but it's still curious that both Obama and Clinton would chose to stay on safe ground rather than shore up support in battleground areas like California or New Jersey today.
Hoever, John McCain may not be able to seal the deal on his nomination by the evening either. A new Zogby/C-Span poll released this morning shows Romney pulling ahead of McCain in California, which may mean tighter races for the Republicans in other states as well.

Obama is probably going to win Missouri and Hillary will win
California. At the end of the day they will about the same number of
delegates.

I THOUGHT OBAMA WAS GOING TO WIN MOST OF THE PRIMARIES BUT THE
CLINTON'S HAVE HELD HIM OFF AGAIN.

Barack just lost New Jersey. He is not doing as well as they
projected him to do. California will be the decider on who won
tonight.

Hillary won M***achuessetts even though both Senators including Ted
Kennedy and the sitting governor endorsed Obama. That is a great win
for her.

Obama is winning big. He is going to suprise everybody. He may even
win NJ.

They both think they are going to win. The exit polls are showing
that Obama is doing better than was thought. She had a false sense of
security.

HI I WANNA ASK A QUESTION? IF YOU BE PRESIDENT ARE YOU GANNA HELP THE
MEXICANS GET PAPERS AND GO ACROSS THE BORDER?

Ken - it took a few years to pay for the first Bush's mess ups with
the economy....did you forget the first Bush put us into a recession?
Now the second one has. Time to send in a Clinton to clean up the
mess again.

Posted by Ken on 2/5/2008 6:54:02 PM
The Clintons gave us 3 years out of their 8 years with a surplus and
the other 5 were deficits with no war to pay for. Bush had a surplus
in his first year before the war started.

Posted by craig on 2/5/2008 6:53:06 PM
That's the one thing Democrats and Republicans agree on...we should
have gone after Bin Laden.

Posted by John on 2/5/2008 6:52:17 PM
We invaded Afghanistan and forced the Taliban in hiding. We should
have killed Osama Bin Laden instead of going into Iraq.

Posted by craig on 2/5/2008 6:52:00 PM
McCain already admits he knows nothing about the economy...then I
guess you'll have to vote for Hillary...the Clinton's did give us a
balanced budget.

Posted by craig on 2/5/2008 6:51:08 PM
the point is that he wants to give away other peoples money...why
doesn't he give away his own?

Posted by Ken on 2/5/2008 6:51:05 PM
I am a fiscal conservative and there is no way I can ever vote for a
Democrat. I hope the Republicans see the error of their ways and get
back to being fiscally responsible.

Ken I happen to like the Arabs but the World Trade Center came down.
If we did not retailiate in some way by going after then we could
lose more lives to such threats.

He is a rich guy no question about it. But can you fault him for
being a rich guyand trying to help poor people.

Posted by craig on 2/5/2008 6:49:40 PM
Ken if you don't support the Iraq war, then your only options in this
race are Obama or Hillary.

Posted by Ken on 2/5/2008 6:48:49 PM
I wss not a supporter of the Iraq war. It is a waste of money and
American soldiers. If Saddam was there or not it did not make much
difference.

Edwards is a slime-ball trial lawyer. I don't trust that guy at all.
He wants to re-distribute wealth - But he lives in a MANSION!

Every day the hard working people get up in the morning to work and
slave themselves to work and accomplish it. In return for a check
with hundreds of dollars out for taxes. At the end of the year
thousands of dollars of taxes out of the pay. I am for paying my fair
share every year in taxes but why is it that we can not get some
relief in taxes. Its the Change I want to see. I go to the
supermarket and come home with pratically nothing let alone complain
of the food in the supermarket is of poor quality. When is the
country returning the nation back with food like the 30's and the
lifestyle of the 30's. Always work work and don't complain. Stuff it
to those politicians. They always seem to know what is best for us. I
do not need that crap.
