HuckleBerry Hound: It is now Huckabee and McCain for the Republican nomination for President of US

The media has been quick to hand the nomination to John McCain after Mitt Romney's high-profile exit from the race this afternoon. They seem to have forgotten about the wild card: Mike Huckabee. Huckabee was widely expected to disappear on Tuesday, but instead he carried most of the southern states that held Super Tuesday contests. Now with Romney gone and much of the Conservative hardcore base upset with McCain's reputation as a moderate, perhaps Huckabee's Feb. 5 victory speech claim of being engaged in "a two man race" might be more accurate than previously assumed.

Huckabee has a real opportunity to grab the mantle as a "true conservative," though he has been criticized from the right for his spending practices as governor of Arkansas. Still, with at least a chunk of Romney's supporters dissatisfied with McCain, Huckabee should expect a bit of a boost. It's going to take quite a bit of work on the part of his campaign to keep from being
shut out by the media, though.

Hillary is the opposition not the republicans. She is the one who
will wreck this nation with all of her liberal spend spend spend
programs and raise our taxes. Are we not paying the taxes.

The republicans have to get this race settled and go after Hillary
and Obama. They have to stop quarreling over the issues and make the
country know where Hillary and Obama are about and how dangerous they
are to the country. Grab your wallets and pocketbooks american people.

Hucakbee would destroy the Republicanparty if he were the nominee. He
would turn off independents and hand a landslide victory to the
Democrats.

Posted by Kevin on 2/7/2008 4:53:21 PM
The republicans need to get this race over with for the good of the
political party.

We are down to two of the Big Boys in the republican nomination.
Please Mike Huckabee leave the nomination race so that John Mccain
builds his support and his campaign base to defeat the Hillary and
Obama team.

Posted by Steve on 2/7/2008 4:40:19 PM
Mike Huckabee ought to pull out of the race as well so that they do
not harm John McCain chances come November.

Posted by Frank on 2/7/2008 4:35:44 PM
It is sad that Mitt Romney left the race. He was a good man and would
have made a good president. However, he left the race so he would not
hurt the chances of the republican party come November 8th.

I think Huckabee has no traction outside of the Bible Belt. He may
make a good VP for McCain but that is a long way down the line.

Posted by Joesph on 2/7/2008 3:59:14 PM
I think Huckabee can make this race interesting if he can keep it
going to forestall the alleged McCain coronation. We need to get as
many people together to support Mick Huckabee as he is right on the
issues for most americans.

Posted by rick on 2/7/2008 3:57:28 PM
Huckabee will have the best shot. He'll get all of the south, and I
think he could get a lot of the midwest with a Romney endorsement.

Posted by Hal on 2/7/2008 3:55:37 PM
Anything goes in the blogosphere. Only kidding. Let us get off Chuck
Norris as he is not really relevant in this race.

Posted by Jesus for President on 2/7/2008 3:55:17 PM
Tyler: I agree Huckabee is the true Champion we all need. Let's all
agree that Mike and Chuck are better than John and George.

Posted by Tyler on 2/7/2008 3:52:08 PM
Have you guys been smoking dope? This is Huckabee V. McCain, not
Foreman V. Norris!

Posted by Robert on 2/7/2008 3:50:56 PM
I think Huckabee is what this country needs. He is a family man with
Christian values who lead this country back to fiscal and moral
sanity.

Posted by Jesus for President on 2/7/2008 3:49:45 PM
Hal: Obviously Chuck Norris would beat George Foreman in a fight. My
point is that if someone can be a great karate champion, it takes
disipline and hard work. If they have a great tv show (and movie
career), it means they appeal to the m***es and care also creative
and can manage large budgets. and if they can sell a lot of a
product, then that means people like them even more than most people.
Also, George Foreman has never had a tv show or feature film career.

Posted by Trevor on 2/7/2008 3:49:14 PM
Hal - Maybe Hillary can get the George Foreman endorsement and he can
help boost her African American support. HAHA!

Posted by Tyler on 2/7/2008 3:46:17 PM
Jesus for President: Sweet fancy Jebus! You get to vote?

Posted by Hal on 2/7/2008 3:46:14 PM
That is exactly what I said that he is know n for entertainment and
being a pitchmen. I do not see where being a karate champion helps
either. If that is case we coudl say George Foreman is a better man
since he was Heavyweight Boxing chamion of the world and sold a lot
of those grills.

Posted by Jesus for President on 2/7/2008 3:42:37 PM
Eileen: It is a well known fact that Mr. Norris is one of the
greatest martial artists of all time, also had one of the best,
longest running tv shows of all time, also he sold millions of total
gyms. People like and believe him. He is a true great Christian and a
great man. You must not know who Chuck Norris is.

Posted by Hal on 2/7/2008 3:41:44 PM
I agree in that Chuck Norris is just an actor and a spokesperson. I
do not know of any great accomplishment he has done outside of those
two fields.
