The Rockefeller family came out today with stinging criticisms of Exxon policies regarding fossil fuel alternatives and global warming.
The family chides Exxon for being slow to acknowledge climate change and to research alternative energy resources. They want Rex Tillerson to step down as Chairman and CEO. In addition they want the company to create a task force on global warming, to research reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and to adopt a renewable energy policy.
In the 1870s the Rockefellers researched and developed the alternative of kerosene over whale oil. This led to founding of Standard Oil which eventually became Exxon. 66 of 67 Rockefeller descendants have signed on to the proposals.
