The U.S. Army announced Tuesday that they are inspecting barracks worldwide, after deplorable conditions were revealed at fort Bragg, NC, including mold inside the barracks, peeling paint, busted pipes and backed up sewage.
The conditions were revealed by the father of an 82nd Airborne soldier who recently returned from a 15 month tour of duty in Afghanistan. The father said he was disgusted by the conditions his son returned to: "We let our soldiers down. That's not how we want America's sons and daughters to live. There's no good excuse for what happened."
General Dennis Rogers, the person responsible for Army barracks maintenance, said most inspections were done over the weekend, but it was too soon to know if the Fort Bragg problem is an isolated incident.
