Today protesters around the country are calling for an end to immigration raids in the workplace and mass deportations, and are pressing for the passing of a comprehensive Immigration reform bill. A large police presence is expected in all cities, due to violence in past years.
Several bills have been attempted in the past years, but differences between Democrats and Republicans on the issue have kept any of them from becoming law.
Obama, Clinton and McCain all support increased funding for border security technology and the enforcement of existing laws. They all agree on a legal path to citizenship for illegal immigrants, and they all voted for a 700 mile fence on the U.S.-Mexican border.
Clinton and Obama both supported the immigration reform bill co-sponsored by McCain.
